Ce morceau parlera plus aux pianistes à partir d’une certaine génération, c’est certain. Il n’empêche qu’il fait partie des grands classiques qui ne vieillissent pas, je trouve ! L’adaptation pour piano solo m’a demandé beaucoup de réflexion, surtout pour ne pas tomber dans une main gauche plate et répétitive, se contentant d’accomplir les allers-retours de la guitare principale. Car cette chanson a beaucoup plus de relief grâce au rythme lancinant de la batterie, les accords de clavier, les contretemps de la basse… Je vous propose donc une version très personnelle, cherchant le meilleur compromis. Attention, il faut avoir un certain niveau pour l’aborder, notamment à cause des grands déplacements de main gauche. Ne vous laissez pas avoir par la lenteur du tempo ! Cela reste assez corsé !

This piece will speak more to pianists from a certain generation, that’s for sure. Nevertheless, it is one of the great classics that do not get old, don’t you think ? The adaptation for solo piano took a lot of thought, especially so as not to fall into a flat, repetitive left hand, just going back and forth on the lead guitar. Because this song has much more relief thanks to the throbbing rhythm of the drums, the keyboard chords, the offbeats of the bass … I therefore propose a very personal version, seeking the best compromise. Be careful, you must have a certain level to approach it, especially because of the large movements of the left hand. Don’t be fooled by the slow tempo ! It remains quite tricky !
